Youth
2000 weekend

Sisters Marianne,
Shirley, Lunga and Nelisa joined an enthusiastic group of young people
in Harrogate for a weekend retreat 20-22 February 2009. They joined in
adoration, prayer, Masses, talks and praise. It was good to be there and
meet with young Catholics enthusiastic about their faith.
Youth on 24 hour fast
Our
parish youth group, ‘Kingfishers’ undertook a 24 hour fast and
sleepover from 6th to the 7th of March in aid of
CAFOD to coincide with the family fast day. There were 29 youngsters who
were kept busy and enthusiastic by taking part in a variety of
activities - they had lots of fun, learned about CAFOD and experienced a
little hunger as well as raising money for others in need. Here the
young people and the sisters release balloons as a sign of their prayer
and sacrifice of love at the end of their fast.
Cambridge
University Chaplaincy: Vocations Talk

On
the 8th of March, Sisters Marianne and Shirley attended a meeting of Catholic University students in
Cambridge. This is a group for vocation discernment called
'Consider Your Call'. The sisters spent the evening with the
students in prayer, input and discussion. They spoke to nine students,
seven of them women.
Taster Weekends
The sisters continue to welcome young women discerning their vocation to
join them for taster weekends. These are held for groups or individuals
and give women a chance to experience something of the life of a
Franciscan Minoress sister. They also have the opportunity to spend some
time talking with one of the sisters about how the Lord might be calling
them. The next weekend is 26 - 28th June 2009. We are also
considering having a discernment weekend 4 - 6th September 2009. Keep an
eye on this website for further details or visit our events pages on xt3
and on Facebook. Do keep an eye
on our vocations site or contact the sisters to enquire about attending
the June/September weekends or for more details on other forthcoming
weekends.
